I was just wondering if anyone was having trouble with .htaccess not working when created via CPanel?

It seems that one of my servers has quite repsonding to anything created via CPanel, at least .htaccess wise.

When a password protected directory is created, the login form pops up, but the user and pass are not accepted, almost like it does not exist at all....

Could anyone please provide some insight as to what may be causing this?

open the .htaccess file and check the path to .htpasswd
    verify the path is correct
open the .htpasswd file and verify the username is there, the password should be beside it -- encrypted

If the above is all correct and still doesn't work, use Cpanel to either; change the PW and/or delete the User and create a new one.
