    Hello All,

I am newbie to Rewrite module and don't know how it works.

I have a .htaccess file as:

    root@server[stones]# cat .htaccess
    RewriteEngine on
    RewriteBase /
    RewriteRule ^siteid([^.]+).*$ detail.php?siteid=$1 [T=application/x-httpd-php]

What does it do and its not working, This is used by a client.

    Regards,

I would think the [^.]+ part negates the whole check. As far as I can tell this says "match one or more of the opposite of any character", which will never have a match.

probably needs to be [^\.]+ which means "match one or more characters which is not a period".

    but I may be wrong
