httpd keeps crashing and I don`t have a clue.I have bogus lines in my logs.I`m desperate.A /etc/rc.d/init.d/httpd restart fixes the issue for like 5 mins.
My WHM version : WHM 10.8.0 cPanel 10.8.1-R113
    OS: CentOS 4.2.
Please help.I`ve searched the forum, and I didn`t find nothing that would be of any help.Too many different topics.

    Regards,
    Adrian

When I go to WHM i get :
Unable to obtain apache version information. Your apache server at xx.xx.xx.xx may be down, or unreachable. ( xx.xx.xx.xx is ip that`s been replaced by me )

Look into log files for clues including: /var/log/messages /usr/local/apache/log/error_log and /usr/local/apache/log/access_log

    /var/log/messages is ok, nothing odd.
    /usr/local/apache/log/access_log is missing.
    /usr/local/apache/log/error_log is missing.
/usr/local/cpanel/logs/error_log - alot of "error setting uid"

    /usr/local/apache/logs/access_log - i get a lot of
Permission Denied when updating scripts rm- rf isn`t allowed.

fix the log missing problem take look at the http.conf and find out why are they missing. Then take look at the logs to see why the apache crashing

hope that helps, you might rebuild the apache using easyapache, which will help to reconfigure the apache.

I was facing the same problem and I found that the script which was using fgets and feof command was casuing problems..

WHat you do is...find out the location of that script from the logs..and then run that PHP file and then see if that casues apache to crash or not....

This is how I had tracked the problem..

and 2nd problem for me was mod_gzip errors in apache error log...

So I had to recomplie apache without mod_gzip support and things started running smoothly...but in your case first chek the script causing fopen errors and fgets errors..

Basically this error shows up when the script is not able to connect to the host or something..and it keeps on running the loop..

So I would suggest, just disable that script page for a day and see the difference..and the problem still persists..then you can do further investigation from error logs or other logs..
