my website is not accessible. while attempting to restart apache it says "httpd has failed, please contact the sysadmin"

    httpd statusroot 19943 0.7 0.7 17116 15632 ? S 23:07 0:00 /usr/local/cpanel/whostmgr/bin/whostmgr ./reshttpd

further, on checking the apache status from whm it says "Unable to retrieve apache status [a fatal error or timeout occurred while processing this directive"

    Please advise how to resolve.

Do you have root access? If yes, ssh to the server and view the log files for errors.

tail -10 /usr/local/apache/logs/error_log to get the last 10 lines of the error log

or cat error_log | less to view it.

or use an editor to "edit" the file to view it
