Oh, PLEASE tell me that one of you still monitors your account. I have a question on this. the SAME thing is happening to me. I get periodic down times of this 10-20 minutes also. But it can happen several times in a day. I've had 5 times in a day before. I did your netstat -lpn | grep :80, and the output I got on the server was:

tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:80 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN 8189/httpd

is this any indication as to what's happening to my server? Please help!!!

I've moved this post to a new thread as it is unlikely that the old thread will necessarily be what would help to resolve your issue anyway. There are a slew of users who can help to try to track down what might be happening.

Rather than running that command, please review the following thread where I talked about Apache:

If your machine is getting a denial of service attack, you should see indicators I've mentioned there.
