Im looking for a replacement for Hybodus Network montoring after i found its not PHP 5 compliant and is going open source without any paid support (after paying large sums of money for the script)

I need to find a decent monitoring sysytem that will allow multiple users and groups of users, thats got a decent usable front end so that customers can login and view uptime, anlong with the usual alerts etc

ive looked at Nagios and its just all to hard
ive tried to get Zabbix to install (on a cpanel server) and gave up

i saw a good sounding script called AlstraSoft Site Uptime Enterprise - http://www.alstrasoft.com/site_uptime.htm but have heard horrid reports about the company, which is a shame cause the script looks good.

so now im out of ideas

anyone else have any suggestions?

(other than writing my own)

Yeah i had a look at status2k but it doesnt appear to have enough functionality

I need to be able to setup groups of servers and groups of users with users only allowed to see specific servers

plus i need sms alerts, and not all my servers are linux some are windows

While it can't show users any uptime stats, PortSensor (From the Cerberus Helpdesk people) is a great way for you & your staff to monitor the servers. It's in beta at the moment, and the next beta version will allow you to have it login via SSH to monitor anything and everything you could do via SSH.

www.portsensor.com

Maybe you could use that in conjunction with something 'user facing'?

I find that rather funny. My hybodus hasn't suddenly stopped working.

and if i'm not mistaken dewd, from what I read of your posts in the hybodus forums it was right after your mouthing off that Eric decided to scrap it. so I wouldn't be all stick'n my nose up in the air very much.

Hybodus dropped off the face of the earth because of people like yourself not showing grattitude to the project or the people who were busting their asses to provide you a FREE product that you can modify to your own liking. You were the one that was screaming and complaining on the hybodus.com forums throwing a fit because the project wasn't being released fast enough for free. I'm not even going to bother quoting what you said, but that was the back breaker right there. Our team has been working on ripping the licensing out of the system so that it could be released for free, but due to complaining from people like yourself and the way you went about it, the project was canned and is now a hosted only solution.

Large sums of money? Go buy the full blown ipcheck then complain about large sums of money. We released Hybodus to be effective, cheap and easy to use, and it was all of that even up through our latest commercial release.

So before you complain, stop and thank yourself for the project dropping off the face of the earth.

I am not trying to offend you but do not justify yourself.

We paid for it, so we need to get it whatever the amount is.

If you think we paid it for cheap, then give us back our money. It is simple and we can close the discussion. Right?

Im going to make one simple comment about this pathetic response then i am goign to let the whole matter drop.

I have supported Hybodus in a Paid format for quite some time. I was more than happy to continue with it as a Paid supported script.

I repeatedly asked for phpsuexec issues to be addressed, and for the most part they were, and support was great from you eric.

I put in a support ticket asking for php5 fixes and was told in no uncertain terms and quite rudely i might add that i should not expect it any time soon.

I offered to pay for these fixes, and i would have paid a considerable amount to either have the bugs fixed or the source code given to us, but no instead of supportign a paying customer i got to basically to F off

I cettainly didnt say anything bad about the script in the forums, so get your facts straight. and i couldnt care less if it was released as GPL or not i just wanted an update and was more than happy to pay for it if i had to.

Oh and i said only what i said after one fo your support staf told me to sod off after offering to pay for the fixes etc

and you wonder why people turned on you?
