I'm in the process of setting up CPanel on a server for my office at work and I had a question regarding multiple IP setups that came from my boss.

What my boss wanted to do was setup CPanel such that we have both a public IP for various public facing sites, but also setup a private IP on the CPanel server specifically for an intranet, and also to restrict access to the the web management console.

I couldn't find any answers googling or searching here so figured I should ask. Can I run a WHM/CPanel server with both a public, and private IPs? If it can be done, are there any gotchas I need to watch out for? And yes, I know I can run a proper DMZ with existing routers to restrict access to private sites, but the question has been asked and he expects an answer. :)

Depends on the site. We're considering right away an inward facing intranet site, and some outward facing sites. To my understanding that's easy enough to do, WHM afaik allows you to assign a client to a specific IP address. So we'd assign the intranet it's own account tied to the internal IP, the other sites tied to the external IP.

Which of course comes back to, can we run a CPanel instance with both a public IP and a private (RFC1918) address?
