I'm new to web hosting.

I bought this primary domain let's say domain1 dot com and i don't want to renew him he is going to expire in 3 months from now. i want to try another website so i bought another domain and added it as an addon domain lets say domain2 dot com
i must change my primary domain now? what will happen if i don't and he will expire?

Some hosts will rename your account if you ask them, others won't. Logically, you can continue to use your account with your new/add-on domain. As long as you have "some" domain that resolves to the server, you can log into cPanel with your original user-id/password.

Assuming you don't care about the site for domain1, you could just alias your new domain and then put up your new site. The site when then respond to both names until you old domain expies.

Your site will stop working when your domain will be expired, but it will not affect your hosting service. You can also add another domain as an addon domain and use your hosting service. Besides, Suppose you are not renewing the domain before the expiration. In that case, the domain will be deactivated and "parked" on the first day after it expires, signifying that its registration has expired. When your domain is parked, your website ceases to function.
