and I'm a complete noob at this stuff, so my question is how do I upload it to my cpanel so I can then edit it to my liking? Then show it to the world ya know.

You will need to consult with the support or the developer of the application you purchased a theme for to determine how to best install it. Typically, custom themes for applications such as WordPress will have instructions upon downloading it. Note that this is not a cPanel matter unless you purchased a theme for cPanel itself.
