My cPanel system comes preconfigured with Fantactico. I have tried installing three different Image Galleries to one of my accounts. All three installations have failed in one fashion or another. Two of the galleries install okay, but all links to images are broken.

Since this problem seems common to my server, I thought I'd ask this group for guidence on this issue. Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have error logs or other details about the errors you can share? Also, do you have root access to the server?

    Hi David,

I do have root access to the server. I'm not sure where to look for error logs though.

Two applications seem to install fine. However, when I launch the applications, links to images appear to be broken. This would be for what appears to be images in the application (buttons etc), as well as images that I upload.

Should I look at the access logs for the domain account?

As much as I don't like to give anyone the run-around, have you also contacted Fantastico regarding this issue? Perhaps this is something that they can assist you with since you're using their software to do this.

However, the access logs may indicate where the script thinks the images should be located and that could shed some insight regarding how to resolve the issue.

I understand, I should probably be asking Fantastico... I just thought I'd give this forum a try since it came bundled with cPanel. Also, since multiple image gallery scripts were failing, I think it's common to the OS config.

I reviewed the error logs and discovered that literal links to image files do work. The failures occur when an image is generated by a cgi request within the page.

Is there a cPanel setting that determines how cgi scripts are executed?

I've seen this happen on my systems as well, it's something in the newer gallery release that changes (or doesn't) the .htaccess file. If you login to the admin section of the gallery and go to URLRewrite tell it just to save without making any changes and I bet the images will start showing up. Not sure how/why it reverts I haven't dug into it that far yet.

Note, Fantastico is third party software. We do not bundle it with our software. However, many data centers will bundle their software with ours when allocating new servers.

For anyone that may be interested... My hosting provider fixed the problem by reinstalling GD.
