After I installed mod_gzip, it seems that images on my webserver are reloaded every time they are accessed. For example, if I click on a page with an image, then it is loaded of course. If I click a link within that page, and then click the back button on my browser, the same image is reloaded. This happens again and again. I'm pretty sure this didn't happen before I installed mod_gzip.

Can someone explain in a simple way how to enable some sort of caching in Apache so that, say, an image file that hasn't changed in a month isn't loaded from the server every time the user opens a page with it?
