    We are experiencing a problem with IMAP on one hosting account. All other mailboxes belonging to other hosting accounts work as they should. Yes, indeed very strange.

    The symptoms:
    * Login errors when trying to access a mailbox via Horde, SquirrelMail or via IMAP protocol in Outlook
    * Can log in successfully via NeoMail or POP3 in Outlook

    What we have tried without any change to the problem:
    * Created new mail accounts on the same hosting account. But creating new mail accounts on another hosting account on the same server works 100%.
    * Upgraded to the latest cPanel Release version (used to run Stable).
    * Restarted IMAP service several times.
    * Reset mailbox passwords with /scripts/fixpop.
    * Reset permissions with /scripts/mailperm.
    * Checked that the domain name exists in /etc/localdomains.
    * Ran /scripts/resetimappasswds and /scripts/resethorde.
    * Getting desperate, recompiled PHP with IMAP support. No change.

    Why on earth is this one hosting account this stubborn? :confused: Your advice will be most welcome.

    Ok, This is how i got it SOLVED :)

    I reset the imap passwords in /etc/vmail by doing the following:
    cd /etc/
    rm -rf vmail
    /scripts/updateuserdomains

    and was able to login to imapd (which is what horde and squirrelmail use).

    Pguy, you are my hero :)

    I followed your advice but it did not fix my problem immediately. However, it gave me enough pointers to see what was wrong. It truned out that the particular domain was parked on another domain until about a month ago. And its password info in /etc/vmail still pointed to the account on which it was parked instead of its own account passwords.

    I deleted its files from /etc/vmail and recreated them with /scripts/updateuserdomains, but they still came out wrong. So the root of it all had to lie elsewhere, i.e. historical data of its parked status.

    I fixed the problem by removing the domain listing from the user file (for the domain it was parked on before), deleting its info in /etc/vmail and finally recreating it.

    Example:
    pico /var/cpanel/user/username (where username relates to the account it used to be parked on) and deleted the line line that said DNSx=domainname.com
    del /etc/vmail/*domainname.com
    /scripts/updateuserdomains
