Remote FTP backup isn't working, so I'm unsure how it could be a solution.

Regardless of the MySQL configuration, the database backups are not working for large dbs anymore.

The backups and restores are one of the only reasons I use Cpanel (I prefer to do the rest from SSH) so it'd be nice to get an ETA on a fix.

Yes, we have the same problem. Remote FTP backups don't work at all. "homedir" is empty.
I hope the developers are working on it.

Just tested this on a few servers with the latest builds, and it worked fine.

Make sure your /scripts are up to date

    /scripts/updatenow

I just tested it and it's not working. Still losing connection to mysql.

I did, and it has not fixed the backup issues.

Update: we are in the process of rewriting the whole backup system to be more portable/faster. This should resolve some long standing issues.

Thanks, as I have stated, the copy/backup scripts are about all I need cpanel for.

We have a fix that is ready for testing.

    /scripts/updatenow
    cp -fv /scripts/pkgacct-ng /scripts/pkgacct

    Problem

I noticed that one day after an update it wiped my whole directory on one server (the backup directory, mind you!) and it had been backing up bad files (i.e. 2mb-10mb when it should be 100+mb per domain).

I decided I'd update the scripts, update the cpanel release, and then see the next day. It worked. So I am sure it was a little bug somewhere.

    Maybe you want to do:

    /scripts/updatenow

    then

/scripts/upcp --force (forces sync of everything cpanel that maybe the update missed)

Did you copy in the new version of pkgacct (pkgacct-ng)?

I upgraded to Stable yesterday and the backup went haywire overnight. I have:
    /scripts/updatenow
    cp -fv /scripts/pkgacct-ng /scripts/pkgacct

I don't like being a guinea-pig, so i hope this new backup isn't going to be a dud.
I guess I'll find out tomorrow....

In case your interested the problem seemed to be with rsync:
Ended up crashing apache with loads over 5. The above snapshot was taken at 6:03am

The new one no longer uses rsync.
