<#include virtual> Disabled

    I managed to disable my server's ability to handle a directive as this:

    <!--#include virtual="/cgi-bin/ro/index.pl" -->

    Many of my pages are virtual, because I maintain a single source for multiple sites. For this reason, I need to run with suExec off, because the code for the pages is in a different account. I use an alias directive to point a site's CGI-BIN to a common account.

    The ConfigServer Firewall application suggested I upgrade from Apache 1.3 to 2.2. In the process of building the profile via cPanel with the current configuration, I discovered that the virtual pages are not working.

    I checked the suExec configuration, and it is still set to off. I'm sure there is something else I missed. I will appreciate any help.

    I found the trouble. The Apache update reset the list of Server-Parsed extensions to:

    AddHandler server-parsed .shtml

    My SSI pages have .HTML and .HTM extensions. So, all I needed to do was change the line back to:

    AddHandler server-parsed .shtml .shtm .html .htm
