Increase /Home Disk Space from /Backup

Greetings to Sifus, May i ask how i going to increase /home disk space from /backup in WHM? since my /backup folder is not using, because I backup to external point.
Hope can advise me. TQ very much :D

Hi,
you can increase the space by two methods

1) from the screenshot it shows the partition style is LVM so you can remove the LVM for /backup and extend the space to /home

2) Another alternative is to remount the /backup as /home2 and change the default home for new accounts to /home2 from whm >> Home / Server Configuration /Basic WebHost Manager® Setup as shown below.

so all new accounts will be created under newly assigned partition instead of old /home by this way you can avoid filling up /home further.

also, you can move a few existing accounts from /home to /home2, to reduce the space usage of /home

Be careful when you play with LVM that may corrupt the data, so if you just need to make use of /backup disk then try the second method as I suggested ( assigning unused disk to /home2 for new accounts) .

I agree with techAMIGO LVM partition need to be carefully handled. If you are not so confident to follow the shared documents then you can contact cPanel Certified System Administration to assist you further.

Try to Rename /backup as /home2 and use it. It is safer than merging the two partitions.

Sorry for late, I had try using "mv backup home2", it cant work T.T
it show "Device or resource busy"
