I am trying to increase Tomcat's memory usage above 64M. I have placed -Xms128M and -Xmx256M into /var/cpanel/tomcat.options as mentioned here:

http://www.cpanel.net/conference/08/files/Tomcat.pdf

Which does seem to add those options to the command line, but the Tomcat manager still reports 64M as the max.

Is this a ulimit issue pertaining to the "tomcat" user?

Please advise. :)

Peace,
Tom

Dave,

Yes ;) Here is the currently running process:

jsvc.exec -user tomcat -cp ./bootstrap.jar -Djava.endorsed.dirs=../common/endorsed -outfile ../logs/catalina.out -errfile ../logs/catalina.err -verbose org.apache.catalina.startup.Bootstrap -security -Xms128M -Xmx256M

Here is what the Tomcat manager is reporting:

JVM

Free memory: 1.57 MB Total memory: 6.54 MB Max memory: 63.56 MB

Peace,
Tom

Interesting. Did you add these 1 per line? Are you seeing the following output when running /scripts/restartsrv_tomcat:

Code:
Adding in customTomcat options(s): -Xms128M
Adding in customTomcat options(s): -Xmx256M
If so, please submit a support ticket (see the link in my signature).

Dave,

Yes I ran it and yes I added them one per line. This was the result:

Could not opendir /usr/local/jakarta/tomcat/lib: No such file or directory
Could not opendir /usr/local/jakarta/tomcat/lib: No such file or directory
Adding in custom Tomcat option(s): -Xms128M
Adding in custom Tomcat option(s): -Xmx256M

I will submit a support ticket also.

Thanks,
Tom
