    Ok,

CPanel newbie here - I searched the forums but didn't find the exact prolem I am having, though some have been close.

Some of my client's sites have their index page as index.shtml but lets say their index.shtml page is in http://domain.com/pages/ - I have to key in http://domain.com/pages/index.shtml to see the page - because if I don't - no page displays (unless of course there was an index.html page but there is not. )

Is there a way to make it so server wide, that if a hosting client uses .shtml and an extension such as index.shtml that the directory will come up with the index.shtml page by default?

And is this done somewhere in WHM? Or do I need to re-configure a file via SSH?

    Thanks for your help!

    Vince

You have to edit the httpd.conf and add the index.shtml to the Directory index. Ofcourse you
    need shell for that.
