I did the following, except I used curl-7.12.3, and still can't get this going.
wget http://curl.haxx.se/download/curl-7.10.8.tar.gz
gzip -d curl-7.10.8.tar.gz
tar -xvf curl-7.10.8.tar
cd curl-7.10.8 (The directory may not be named that check if don't work)
./configure
make
make install

And....

to be on the safe side, install it twice.

once you've done it the first time,

./configure --prefix=/usr
make clean
make
make install
I am running:
RedHat 9
WHM 10.1.0 cPanel 10.2.0-C131
Apache 1.3.33
PHP 4.3.3

Everything seems to compile correctly. When I do a curl -V, I get
curl 7.12.3 (i686-pc-linux-gnu) libcurl/7.12.3 OpenSSL/0.9.7a zlib/1.1.4
Protocols: ftp gopher telnet dict ldap http file https ftps
Features: Largefile NTLM SSL libz

My php script which uses curl still gives me this error message
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: curl_init() in /home/username/public_html/secure/inc/whm_functions.php on line 220

And phpinfo doesn't show curl in the configure command or in the list of modules installed.
'./configure' '--with-apxs=/usr/local/apache/bin/apxs' '--with-xml' '--enable-bcmath' '--enable-calendar' '--enable-ftp' '--with-gd' '--with-jpeg-dir=/usr/local' '--with-png-dir=/usr' '--with-xpm-dir=/usr/X11R6' '--with-gettext' '--with-imap' '--with-imap-ssl' '--with-kerberos' '--with-mcrypt' '--enable-magic-quotes' '--with-mysql=/usr' '--with-openssl' '--enable-discard-path' '--with-pear' '--with-pspell' '--enable-sockets' '--enable-track-vars' '--enable-versioning' '--with-zlib'

Any assistance would be great.
Just a note. I had already tried to do it with buildapache and easyapache and both ways gave error messages while attempting to get and make curl. This is why I am trying to do it without buildapache or easyapache.
