    in the shell write:
    /scripts/easyapache

Select "6" (advanced mode) and enable there mod_rewrite. The scripts will recompile php and apache (including all required modules... mod_rewrite too).

From what I have heard, this /scripts/easyapache seems like it would be good for something like me. The only thing Im somewhat worried about is that it will do something unexpected and break XX or XX. Any concerns or questions I should have before running that script?
