Also, I tried to install MRTG using WHM RPM. It said that it had been installed but I failed to point to the graphs via my browser.

    Hello,

The installation of this MRTG is running OK. But when I try to open http://MainIP/mrtg, "The page cannot be displayed" is showing. Please help!

don't know if anyone is familiar with this utility:

    sysstat

Simply put, this is a Top logger that shows you tracking of:

    swap
    memory usage
    cpu utilization, usage
    procesess
in a log file that is really usefull.

The command to ran it is:

    sar -r

the -r is just one switch. if you do -q you will see cpu load avg over the entire day in 10 minuets intervals. Really great tool.
Also, you might want to use another tool called:

    iftop

it shows you the current traffic on your network card.
Do a google search on both of these.

For everyone who is getting those mail errors... I found a few sites that explain why this isnt working...

From those sites I hacked together a script to use to replace 'mailstats' (/etc/mrtg/mailstats) which pulls the stats from your exim logs.

Works perfect for me as a drop in replacement... others may need to tweak directories and bin locations.. but its a perl script.. essentially a text file... not hard.

PM me if you want this script (I'm not going to paste the whole code here).

    Cheers,
    Alan

I have received this message in 5-10 minutes after I start MRTG.

WARNING: rateup died from Signal 11
with Exit Value 0 when doing router 'mail-host-email-queue'
Signal was 11, Returncode was 0
libpng warning: Application was compiled with png.h from libpng-1.2.2
libpng warning: Application is running with png.c from libpng-1.0.15
gd-png: fatal libpng error: Incompatible libpng version in application and library

I have try to stop and start the MRTG but I still received that error. I uninstall MRTG and reinstall it again, it was OK in the begining. But another 5-10 minutes I got those message again in the SSH.

    Any clues???

How to get rid of the mailstats errors:

    # pico /etc/mrtg/mrtg.cfg
search the line with mail.html in it, and delete <br><a href="mail.html">- Mail Usage</a><br><a href="mq.html">- Mqueue Usage</a>.

then go to the end of the file and delete (or comment out) all above

    #----------------------------------------
    # Mail.cfg: Mailstats plotting with MRTG
    #----------------------------------------

save and exit the file and restart mrtg.

now mrtg doesn't process your mailstuff anymore. If you want that features, you have to tune your configfiles to fit on your system, but don't ask me, how to do that ;)

    For the Mail Queue problem:

    Code:
    pico check-email
    find the line that reads:

    Code:
    QUE=`ls /var/spool/exim/input/*-H | wc -l | sed -e "s/ //g"`
    and change it to:

    Code:
    QUE=`ls /var/spool/exim/input/*/*-H | wc -l | sed -e "s/ //g"`
and the mail queue will read the correct number of emails.

Starting MRTG: /etc/init.d/mrtg: /usr/bin/mrtg: /usr/local/bin/perl: bad interpreter: No such file or directory

    Using: RHEL AS 3

Does anyone know how I can get MRTG to work?
