I am new to this forum. I am trying to install the cPanel trial version - on a GoDaddy dedicated server with Red Hat Entreprise 4.

    I am logged as root
    The install instruction are simple:
    # wget http://layer1.cpanel.net/latest

    I get:
    latest: Permission denied

Cannot write to `latest' (Permission denied).

    Please help
    thanks

The install procedures goes as follows:

    ----------
    To install WebHost Manager

Make sure you are logged in as root.

    # cd /home
    # wget http://layer1.cpanel.net/latest
Note: For FreeBSD, you need to download and untar the latest installer package from http://www.cpanel.net/.
    # sh latest

    ----------

My problem is with the second command... any ideas?

not that either - wget is already set to 755

do you think it has to do with the fact that i registered for a 15-day trial?

Let me dig down a bit more on the first comment - when asked if i was logged as root - I answered yes. I actually log on with the user id and password I supplied when seting up the server - thinking that i am the root. This is a dedicated server that GoDaddy.com installed for me. I was not given any other username/password.

BTW, I can navigate inside all the directories that belong to root - so I don`t think this is the issue.

thanks for you comments - keep them coming. :)
