Hello all,

Curious about something. I went to install Fantastico, and of course get the warning about the buggy version of wget.

I'm wondering, instead of replacing the version of wget cPanel has installed, if its possible to download a "non-buggy" version and compile it from source in another directory, to keep it seperate from the default wget, and without having to make any modifications to yum.

I want this so that the default version of wget keeps on updating along with cPanel, instead of putting it on the exclude list.

Because I know you can set the wget location in the Fantastico settings..

Would this work or would it cause any problems with the default version? Any suggestions appreciated!

I doubt if there is any relation of Wget version with Cpanel upgrade. You can simply downgrade the wget version and it will not affect anyway to other applications.

You will also want to put wget on /etc/yum.conf's exclude= line so the OS doesn't automatically reinstall the buggy version.
This is taken from the Fantastico official install guide..
