Has anyone successfully installed and used composer? In the past I have been able to avoid using it, only if a phar version of the app is available which is not always the case.

At the moment I have an app I want to use which requires composer be installed and does not provide a phar version (to use without composer).

I found this post regarding compatibility issues - http://forums.cpanel.net/threads/compatibility-issue-found.425241/#post-1718642

as well as http://forums.cpanel.net/threads/installing-composer-in-cpanel-suggestions.371381/ which basically provides no information at all other than 'use at your own discretion' warning.
