I saw somewhere on this website that cpanel had a version optimized for running on a VPS server, particularly with a lower memory footprint.

I'm installing cpanel on a virtuozzo vps server but Step 6: Install cPanel & WHM (or cPanel DNSONLY) doesn't make any special suggestions for installing on a vps server. Is this somehow handled automatically or am I missing something?

I'm fairly sure cPanel still likes to use the word, automagically. :)

The system will know if you're on a dedicated server or not, and adjust itself appropriately, automagically.

cPanel is smart enough to detect your server type i.e. dedicated or Virtual and adjust itself automatically. So, no need to worry about it. :)
