I'm trying to install TidyLib. I've downloaded, compiled, and installed TidyLib. I then did:
    pecl install tidy

It installs fine, no errors. I then copy the tidy.so file to my php extension dir. I then add tidy.so to the modules section of the php.ini file. I restart httpd and I get errors saying:

[05-Apr-2007 14:03:41] PHP Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library '/usr/include/php/ext/tidy.so' - /usr/include/php/ext/tidy.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory in Unknown on line 0

If someone can please help with this it will be appreciated.

Someone in IRC had helped me.

I believe I did 'phpize tidy' or something like that (can't remember) then did 'make' and 'make install' and everything worked. I had to download the current version of php to the server and be root though.

Just as a note that may be helpful. Tidy is supported within EasyApache3 and can be installed much easier using ea3.

sorry for my noobness, but I have no idea of what Easy Apache 3 is... I have been working on making tidy work for the week end and still haven't got it to work... I'd really appreciate if someone could indicate a step per step installation guide for html tidy. My version of php is 5.2.0 ... I have tried everything and still no result. I just tried the ./configure --with-tidy and it says that libtidy could not be found, etc. I alos tried --with-tidy=/usr/lib and no result, etc.

    help !!!

ps: I just tried /scripts/easyapache and there is no sign of tidy there

Tidy is an optional module in PHP 5. To enable this in EasyApache 3 go to WHM -> Software -> Apache Update and proceed through the configuration until you see a button labeled "Advanced Configuration" then click that.

Under PHP 5 you will see an option for "Tidy" - select that and proceed to build/recompile Apache and PHP.

EasyApache 3 is only available to users of EDGE and CURRENT at this time. This functionality is labeled "Stage 2" of cPanel 11 and information on when it will propagate to the other builds can be found on http://www.cPanel.net/cpanel11
