Hello all,

Can some one tell me, what are the different locations on the server where cPanel stores the IP address information ?

The reason i ask this is coz i need to switch back my public ip to private ip, but after i changed the ips in the common places, WHM does not load and says to execute the key file, but still does not work :(

So you didn't change it using WHM > Basic cPanel & WHM Setup nor using the IP migration wizard but manually changed files?

If so, please manually change the files back and change it properly in WHM after it starts loading again.

Tristan,

The server was installed on a private ip for the first time. Then one of my friends changed the ips to public ip and since we did not have a license, WHM stopped to work and now since WHM is not working, we are not able to change IP address via the web but are now restricted to shell access.

We want to use the server on a private ip for some time before we buy a license.

This is where the issue is...

If you manually changed the IPs on the backend, then you would need to manually change them again on those same backend locations. Otherwise, if you did change them using WHM previously, what area of WHM did you use? You are not providing enough details and too many files are edited when the IP is changed depending on where it was changed.

One file that will be changed is the one at /etc/wwwacct.conf location when you revise the IP in WHM > Basic cPanel & WHM Setup.

These files were edited to turn the server back to the private ip :-

/etc/ips
/etc/hosts
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0
/etc/sysconfig/network

My friend had edited the "Basic cPanel & WHM Setup" file to put the server on Public IP and it is form here that the issue started.

I shall have this file looked into later tomorrow "/etc/wwwacct.conf" as we did not touch this file et all.

Thank you so much Tristan once again :)
