Hi,

I am having issues changing a site's IP address. The IP I am trying to use was used by another domain but I removed it from it. But it will now allow me to add it to the new site as it thinks it still in use;

"Sorry, *.*.*.253 is in use by another domain name and is not a shared ip."

I have confirmed in "Show IP Usage" and it is showing as now in use. I have also tried to rebuild the IP address pool and still no joy.

Any idea's?

Thanks,

Steve.

What do you mean by "removed it from it"?

Seems you didn't understand what OP is asking. He is saying that he removed the ip assigned to a domain and trying to reuse the ip.

Steve,

Is this old domain/site still existing on server? If yes, check the zone file and see if the dedicated ip is still there or not.

You need to check the file /var/named/domain.com.db

Check the ip in /var/cpanel/userdata/user/ , /var/cpanel/users/user , /etc/domainips . If the dedicated ip is listed in any of the user files, you need to replace it with the required one.

Once done, you can assign dedicated ip using the following command.

/usr/local/cpanel/bin/setsiteip -u $user $ip
Cheers!!!

I think I understood what he was asking, but I was not sure what he meant by "removed the ip".
AFAIK the right way is to go to WHM-> IP Functions-> Change a Site’s IP Address
That will change the site's IP address, and after that the IP address (if it was a dedicated IP) is free to use.
That is why I asked "What do you mean by "removed it from it"?, you don't remove an IP, you change it.
