    Hi,

Should cPanel but directly on a public IP and internet facing or should it sit behind a firewall with a one to one NAT?
If so is the distribution secured automatically?

    Thanks

    Kenny

The server with cPanel/WHM installed should have a public (WAN) IP address bound to its primary network interface. Either a software or hardware firewall may be used, but introducing Network Address Translation (NAT) where the server uses an internal (LAN) IP address will incur more difficulty with initial provisioning of and maintaining applicable software/daemon configurations.

Securing a new OS installation and customizing the configuration must be performed by the server administrators that manage the system; however, cPanel/WHM offers a number of features and functions that can help. I recommend reviewing our release notes for cPanel version 11.25 and our documentation to learn about the latest security-related features and enhancements available.
