One of our domains changed names in 2015
We communicated to every customer that the email address had changed.
Most customers listened, but there are still a handful of customers/suppliers who have our old email details.
Despite there being an auto responder going along the lines that the email failed to deliver (it didn't of course), we still have them emailing us.

Is it possible to have an auto responder to email about 3 times, maybe they might eventually get the message.

That's not quite the way autoresponders work, they can be set to send a response back every time the address is changed though. You could also add a forwarder for that address to the new one pending you still have DNS control over the domain which I assume you do since you're managing the AutoResponder.

The account is still live on my server, the web is on a web forwarder.
The email account still exists, so that staff can get to legacy imap data.

I had a filter that would fail back to the customer, but still deliver to the inbox.
I've now finally taken the desision to fail only.

I'm sure they will eventually get the message. Maybe next millenium :)
