I have a WHM reseller account but I have access to the DNS functions. Can I do the following:

Domain A is a normal account

Domain B has a website but any mail received should be sent to Domain A. Once the mail gets there, it should go into the corresponding mailbox automatically e.g.

someone sends mail to user1@domainB.com. This should be automatically sent to user1@domainA.com.

I'm saying "automatically" because I don't want to resort to using forwards or filters. This is pretty easy if both domains point to the one account, however in this case we want a seperate website for each domain.

I'm not 100% sure, but what you are trying is not working.
The DNS is just "showing" the way to your mailserver (exim). Exim is still receiving the mail for "domainB.com" even if you change the DNS entry to "domainA.com". Because the DNS is not changing the recipient in your email
I would say that you have to use a forwarder.
