Is it safe just to up2date -u ?

    If you have the option selected for cpanel to update your server software, then you don't need up2date. You might need it to update your kernel however, as cpanel doesn't take care of that for you.

    See I wasn't sure if CPANEL updates everything so I decided to up2date -U and I don't know if I hosed something in the box.


    Now do I need to prepare for a restore or something.

    you should be okay. my up2date -l indicates only mrtg has a change.

    You should not need to use up2date, /scripts/rpmup is all you need.
