Hello, I was checking my server to upgrade to AlmaLinux 8 and it recommended me to upgrade MySQL version to 8.0 with following command.

/usr/local/cpanel/bin/whmapi1 start_background_mysql_upgrade version=8.0

I have ran that but every I run pre-upgrade check

/scripts/elevate-cpanel --check --upgrade-to=almalinux

it says

MySQL upgrade in progress. Please wait for the MySQL upgrade to finish.

It's been 3 days and I think it is stuck or something. But I have more than a thousand of websites on my server. Could it be the reason of this much time taking?

When I check in the WHM (Home / SQL Services / MySQL/MariaDB Upgrade), I found the message saying "last MySQL upgrade was failed". Should I restart my server and run the upgrade again from WHM?

Hello! It would be very unusual for the MySQL upgrade process to take three days. It seems as though the upgrade likely failed or was stuck. I'd recommend reviewing the MySQL error log to see if it shows why the upgrade stalled. Ideally, the issues that prevented the upgrade should be fixed, and then the MySQL upgrade can be resumed from the interface in WHM. Information regarding the location of the MySQL error log can be found below:

How to locate the MySQL or MariaDB log

If the error log doesn't contain helpful information, I recommend opening a ticket so our team can log in and take a closer look.
