    Hello,

I've installed mod_security through easyapache from WHM,
and I can see at Plugins -> Mod Security,

    also in /usr/local/apache/conf/
    I see
    -rw------- 1 root root 649 Nov 21 2011 modsec2.conf
    -rw------- 1 root root 97 Feb 8 2011 modsec2.user.conf
    -rw------- 1 root root 26K Oct 15 2010 modsec2.user.conf.default
    -rw------- 1 root root 0 Oct 15 2010 modsec2.user.conf.none
    -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 42 Feb 8 2011 modsec2.whitelist.conf

    (apache is restarted multiple times)

but in a phpinfo(); page or php -i I cannot find any text about mod_sec or even the word security,
    doesn't that mean that mod_sec isn't loaded?

It's an Apache module, look for ex.:

    /etc/init.d/httpd -M | grep security
