Over the past 2 days, I have noticed a lot of email making its way to my client machine. I have had many of my customers send complaints about a rise in spam.

I have had SpamAssassin enabled and configured for about a year now. Over the past couple days I am seeing junk mail that I believe is either making it past SpamAssassin or is getting by because SpamAssassin no longer works properly.

Has anyone else experienced this too? Any ideas or suggestions?

SpamAssassin is not the best program in the world to fight/stop spam. I suggest installing MailScanner and Clam Anti-Virus applications which will, significantly, trim down SPAM.

    Hope this helps!

Indeed. Spammers are always trying to evade spam trapping mechanisms and it's always a game of catchup. SpamAssassin is great, but it is only one tool in the arsenal.
