I ordered a dedicated server with no root access because my provider stated that he is currently using a software that links the cpanel servers together. As a result, I cannot even view the server status and information. Also, I can see packages from other resellers that were not supposed to be on my server. This is what he told me

Hi Chris,
You were not cheated. The reason for all the packages is because we use server software to link all cpanel servers together, so if we need to do any global chnages, such as ip changes, cpanel updates, module installs, etc. we only have to do it once, not once for every server. Because of the software though, all resellers, and all packages can be seen by everybody.
Sorry for the confusion, but we guarantee you have a dedicated server.

Definitly tell them where they can put their server. Good luck without root managing your clients and software properly. Might as well just be a reseller using their servers.

What they have been telling could be absolutely true. Unless someone with first-hand experience using Cluster software makes a post, I think we are just guessing.

If you trust them implicitly and/or they have given you a much better deal then having a stand-alone Dedicated, give them the benefit of the doubt and see how things go. Otherwise, start looking for a new Server provider or contact someone who is familiar with Server Clustering.

It sounds legitimate to me, but I would not pay for a server without root access unless it was a great deal with full customer support. I suggest getting a server you have control of.
