It's allowed. A high percentage of us use our own customizations of the skins. That's what this particular forum is for.

WHM has the option to clone a skin. That copies one with your own name that you can then customize. To do it directly, the skins are in /usr/local/cpanel/base/frontend/. Just copy one of the directories there and do what you want with it.

if i make all the graphics for a skin how much will it cost someone to code it. it might be a modified version of Xskin but how much will it be for someone to code it into the whole lot of Cpanel with rollvers maybe. also is it possible to use flash in Cpanel or will it cause a load of errors.

    reply

Trying to copy the x2 directory and move it to my hosting account so I can download on my system via cuteftp. I am getting this error below:

    cp: omitting directory `x2'

And obviously it is not being copied over, Thank you

x2 is almost entirely just symlinks to x, with it's own stdheader.html, stdfooter.html, and lang files. All other files are just coming from x.

i guess i just alter these files then: stdheader.html, stdfooter.html. can you tell me the path to them?

also i guess the images i will overwrite will be the ones in the x folder.

last question. what is the difference between x and x2 other than the girl at the top?

    thanks

The path to those 2 files is:
    /usr/local/cpanel/base/frontend/x2/stdheader.html
    and
    /usr/local/cpanel/base/frontend/x2/stdfooterer.html

I don't know the differences because I don't use either of them. I use my own skins.

    Modifying skins?

Would it be legal to make major changes to lets say the default skin and then sell it for a nominal fee?

Just to make up for the time spent making the changes.
