I have setup an SSL certificate for the main domain on my server so that clients can access it using https://mydomain.com . however, I have noticed that if i go to https://clientdomain.com (HTTPS to a clients domain on the same server that does not use SSL) it actually shows https://mydomain.com (my domain that holds the SSL cert).

Is this the correct behaviour? it seems odd.

If not, how can it be fixed?

    Thanks

    Hello,

Yes it is correct, this is from SNI(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Server_Name_Indication) which allows you to install multiple SSL's on a single IP as well as virtualhosts. What happens is, since the domains are sharing that IP and only one has an SSL installed, when the server receives a request it defaults to the primary SSL installed regardless if there is one installed on the domain or not since it cannot decipher. What you want to do is either..
    1. Move the domain with the SSL to a dedicated IP so its not shared amongst other websites.
    or
    2. Install an SSL on the other sites sharing that IP, you can even use a self signed SSL but just keep in mind doing that will throw the warning page when visiting the site with the self signed SSL but it does prevent them from being redirected to the other site with the SSL.
