Whenever adding a site to the server it seems that the domain.com.db zone gets created but the entry into /etc/named.conf is not added and I am pretty sure named is not restarting also.

I have another cPanel server without any problems so I am pretty sure it is not an issue with an update and I have also tried going from release -> stable with no luck.

So if you manually restart the named/bind process it still does not work?

A bit more information might help:

    1. What OS are you running and which version of bind?

    2. What permissions do you have on /etc/named.conf

    3. Is named actually running correctly, i.e. the following does not give errors:

    rndc status

    4. Have you tailed both /var/log/messages and /usr/local/cpanel/logs/error_log when adding a new account and are there any errors?

wot is /etc/named.conf i cannot find this in my account, ive looked through the ftp and etc folder is there but no named.conf also i cannot make domains for accounts e.g. yourdomain.mydomain.net, could this be a problem with not having named.conf?

Without you answering the questions, I can't really help further as they depend on your OS and you checking your logs.

    I'm having a similar problem.

It appears that every night when cpanel runs, it deletes /etc/named.conf and re-creates it.

When I go to add domains, adddns, whatever, it's actually writing them to /var/named/named.conf. No matter how many times you restart named it'll never see the new zones.

Simply removing /etc/named.conf and symlinking to /var/named/named.conf resolves the issue, but cpanel deletes this every night.

    rndc status works fine

    freebsd 4.11

    bind 9.1x

I'd suggest taking a look at /var/named/named.conf or any other named.conf on your system to see if you're having the same issue.
