MAYBE your reseller's config files are too large? Try sorting them and to reduce the size.

What are your server specifications? You might be experiencing a problem I had long ago.

    try repairing your quota files

    /scripts/fixquotas

if its always when adding the quota tabs that the user creation fails .

What's the system doing when you log on and get a process listing? (Or do it from WHM in another browser window). Also, it's worth checking what's happening with CPU and I/O.

Could this be a DNS timeout? It's hard to understand what else could introduce such a long delay into account creation, after all, not that much work has to be done, and the change for the worse was sudden wasn't it?

ps: that's a fairly substantial machine, it shouldn't be having any problem with account creation at all.

pps: there are experts for hire if you don't want to wait for us to stumble around. Configserver and Platinum Servers are two I know of.

    Dual Opteron 285 / 4GB

I am not quite sure how to sort or reduce the size of reseller files.

I will try the fixquotas script.

    Thanks!

This just began a few days ago on (2) machines same specs. When the pause occurs the quota command is using 120-200% cpu. The IO Wait gets upto 90% according to SAR.

The 2 machines are setup exactly the same way / same software and are in a DNS cluster together.

I will try to capture some stats if the fixquotas doesn't work.

    Thanks.

upcp is set to run everyday - I was just looking over the email logs actually. I assume the --force command causes everything to update regardless if it doesn't need updating is that correct?

Are you running the 'Stable' version?

    Hi,

Believe me, I'm no expert. But I had the same problem some time ago and had to ask CPANEL for assistance. The issue was I was running edge, not stable. The CPANEL technician switched me to stable and I havn't had the issue since.

I hope this is helpful in some way. Please bear in mind I am certainly not an expert.

    same problem!?

    WHM 11.2.0 cPanel 11.11.0-R16948
    CENTOS Enterprise 4.5 i686 - WHM X v3.1.0

i mention that the "files" fomr skel are already copied to the specified acount /home/user

but still waits for a long time.. the matter of fact still waits [after 15 minutes] i need to stop manually,

    NO error in /usr/local/cpanel/logs/error.log
NO IO Wait, or QUOTA problem

    Load Average ~4

    HM, but this is strange:

    OK, i killed these processes,
But it started a very high Load > ~280
After a Reboot, all is fine, BUT not should happen this.

Reopening.. sorry, but no solution yet.

Yesterday, a reseller crashed out my server while creating 4 accounts at the same time through tabs, due to quota proccesing (last seen I had seen at top before crashing, with 99% CPU)...

There is nothing you can do to prevent crashing from IO waits...

Unsetting the following tweak setting should prevent that:

Use Safe Quota Setting (quotas will be disabled, adjusted, and then re-enabled). This option should be enabled if you are having problems with lost disk quotas or other quota system corruption. Under software raid and other circumstances enabling this option will degrade server performance.
