I can't seem to input Japanese language into my web page. Can anyone help? I am using Dreamweaver to code and I have changed the html scripting in both the program and manually with no luck. (Every time I try to see the webpage it turns into weird characters)

    Cheers for the help!

Are you using unicode (AKA UTF-8)?

Is the file itself saved in whatever character encoding you are using? I know many people make the mistake of setting the character encoding in the code, but saving the file in a completely different encoding.

If you're coding on a Windows XP machine, you can go into Notepad and do File -> Save As and then select your character encoding.

    David,

Thanks for the quick response. I am using Dreamweaver for the coding on a Mac. (To be honest, I am trying to fix someone else's code, but I have very little experience with this program--hence the problems).

I have tried skipping directly to the code via the Cpanel code editor but I get a similar issue: the Japanese text appears fine in the code editor preview window, but in random characters in both firefox and safari. The code turns up the same way when viewed via IE as well.

That is a known issue in cPanel 10 that has been fixed in cPanel 11. Seeing as cPanel 11 is only beginning to start being released today, your web hosting provider may not have upgraded to cPanel 11 yet. Once they do, that issue with the WYSIWYG and code editors will be resolved.

Is there any solution I can use in the meantime? We've been trying to solve this problem for over 6 months and I was assured during purchase that my site would be Japanese friendly.

P.S. My provider is cPanelX, are they at all connected with cPanel? and if so, when can I expect my cpanel to be updated?

cPanelX is not affiliated with cPanel, Inc. You will need to contact them regarding their plans to upgrade to cPanel 11.
