Hi, been struggling with this one for a couple of hours now & tearing my hair out. Hope someone can help.

So this is a fresh install & all is complete in WHM as far as I know. I'm trying to connect with Putty on default port 22 with the main IP address & username root & password.

Password authorization tweak is enabled but when trying to log in I get the following error, before I even get a chance to enter a password:-

login as: root
Access denied
Using keyboard-interactive authentication.
Password:

I sometimes see an error in WHM about a security token too. I just can't work this out.

Any ideas?

Thanks :)

I found out the Security Token tweak setting just after posting this.
I've disabled it & enabled it a few times & restarted server too. Still having a problem with it.

Did you check the CPHulk Brute Force Protection?
You may have been locked out because of that.

Is the OpenSSH Service Running?

What is the security token error that you are receiving. Paste it here.

Disabled CPHulk, flushed it & still no joy. OpenSSH is running & has also been restarted.

The security token error was fixed it's just this connection problem now.

Thanks for the suggestions so far. Any more ideas?

Try what storminternet had to say:
Just try disable Password Auth and then enable it again.

Except, that after disabling it, restart the ssh service and then enable the Password Auth Tweak.

================
What do the ssh logs say?

/var/logs/messages

Check the Putty error log.

After you enter the password, press Ctrl and right-click on the PuTTY window >> Event log.

Scroll and see the error. Paste it here.
