    Hello

    I have a Red Hat 7.3 server where I always used redhat up2date to patch my kernel and I had no /etc/lilo.conf file .

    Now I wish to update my kernel using the latest fedoralegacy kernel , 2.4.20-30.7.legacy . Since I cannot update using up2date , I was thinking 2 solutions ;

    a) I could try to update kernel using yum ....

    b) I could create an /etc/lilo.conf file like this

    Code:
    prompt
    timeout=50
    default=linux
    boot=/dev/sda
    map=/boot/map
    install=/boot/boot.b
    message=/boot/message
    linear

    image=/boot/vmlinuz-2.4.20-30.7.legacy
           label=linux
           initrd=/boot/initrd-2.4.20-30.7.legacy.img
           read-only
           root=/dev/sda6

    Then I could execute

    # rpm -ivh kernel-2.4.20-30.7.legacy.i386.rpm
    #lilo
    #lilo -v -v
    #reboot

    What do you suggest , procedure a) or b) ?

    Thank you
