Kernel reboot warnings on virtual servers

Maybe I'm missing something here, but I don't see how the kernel check feature is supposed to work with containers - LXC / OpenVZ / Virtuozzo - where the user has no control over the kernel and kcarectl isn't going to be installed to provide the correct kernel - yet I'm being told the server needs rebooting...

Hello @hbouma,

I moved this post to a separate thread. "WHM >> Security Advisor" will detect if the server is on a virtual environment (e.g. Virtuozzo, LXC) and output the following notice:

Kernel updates are not supported on this virtualization platform. Be sure to keep the host’s kernel up to date.
As far as the reboot warning as it appears in Web Host Manager, could you open a support ticket using the link in my signature so we can take a closer look at the particular situation on the affected server?

Thank you.

Hi Hal,

Where are you seeing the reboot message: in the WHM header, or within Security Advisor?

Which version of cPanel & WHM are you seeing this in?

Which container technology (and version) are you using?
