    Hey guys,

    How do I update the kernel on my box ?

    WHM 10.8.0 cPanel 10.8.2-S120
    RedHat Enterprise 3 i686 - WHM X v3.1.0

    Is it safe to do so ? I see there are some vuns out for certain so would like to update asap.

    I check up2date and kernel updates are in the skiplist?

    Should they not be in there?

    pkgSkipList kernel*;courier*;mysql*;spamassassin*;httpd*;perl;mysql*;php*;mod_ssl*;imap*;squirrelmail*;caching-nameserver*;exim*;

    pkgsToInstallNotUp ['kernel', 'kernel-modules']

    Also just out of interest what the difference between pkgSkipList & pkgsToInstallNotUp

    Thx an advance

    Cpanel is not responsible for the kernel upgrade and thus the kernel* is being excluded in the update list. You may remove the kernel* from the excluded list , run the up2date and add in the kernel* after the upgrade. Remember to reboot your box to have the new kernel take effect.
