Kernel upgrading and SMP support

Hello all:

I have no idea where to post this and i dont know how to contact redhat support so does anywhere here know if i can upgrade my kernel and have it have SMP support for dual processors using up2date?

running redhat 7.3

At default, up2date disables Kernel upgrading. You CAN download the kernel itself from ftp.redhat.com or any of the sites on redhat's mirror page (www.redhat.com/mirrors). If you're using !SMP kernels now, I wouldn't advise going to a SMP kernel unless you're 100% positive you know what you're doing and you have hands on access to the setup, otherwise, you will run a serious risk of software / hardware failure.

yes i am running dual 1ghz processors and i am using a SMP kernel and i am new to kernel upgrading.

do you know of any documentation to upgrade redhat SMP kernels?

i use to use up2date to upgrade my kernel before, i just enabled kernel updating using up2date ./configure
