    Does CPanel update kernel in any way?
    My server runs a FEDORA FC1 (Kernel 2.4.25) and I know that there are several updates fixing security issues.
    is it sure make a yum update of kernel?

    Bye

    kernel updates are generally in the exclude list of yum if you are using a smp machine try yum update kernel-smp
    and if you are using a normal cpu no dual no hyper threading use yum update kernel after it check grub.conf or lilo.conf all the things are correct

    Go on, have a guess
    Also, since you're using the rather ancient FC1, you should also be sure that you're getting updates from FedoraLegacy mirrors in yum and not the now redundant redhat ones.

    I don't understand your advice.
    I config yum in order to get updates from fedoralegacy site, where it's said that FC1 updates are suported.

    [main]
    cachedir=/var/cache/yum
    debuglevel=2
    logfile=/var/log/yum.log
    pkgpolicy=newest
    distroverpkg=redhat-release
    tolerant=1
    exactarch=1
    exclude=kernel*

    [base]
    gpgcheck=1
    name=Fedora Core $releasever - Base
    baseurl=http://download.fedoralegacy.org/fedora/$releasever/os/$basearch

    [updates]
    gpgcheck=1
    name=Fedora Core $releasever updates
    baseurl=http://download.fedoralegacy.org/fedora/$releasever/updates/$basearch

    [legacy-utils]
    gpgcheck=1
    name=Fedora Legacy utilities for Fedora Core $releasever
    baseurl=http://download.fedoralegacy.org/fedora/$releasever/legacy-utils/$basearch

    RH9 for FC1? Why?

    Thanks

    FC1 is pretty much dead and unsupported, I would reccomend an upgrade to FC4 if you are concerned with security.
