Kill FormMail?

    I've had a few spammers using FormMail.cgi and after suspending them i can't find a way to kill off the FormMail. The only way i could stabilise the server was to reboot it.

    I've tried 'kill -9 FormMail.cgi' and 'kill [processID]' but none of the processes get killed.

    Does anyone know a way to kill it, without rebooting the server?

    You may want to try disabling it via WHM. The setting for this is in WHM -> Server Configuration -> Tweak Settings -> Software and uncheck the setting labeled FormMail-clone cgi then click Save at the bottom of that page.

    Thanks for the advice but i'd rather not disable it as a lot of the users do use it (legitimately).

    I believe that latent processes that won't kill off, will need to be killed via a power cycle ....... it's the only way I know of to get rid of those "sticky" processes of any sort. (This also happens with UDP flood scripts, bots, shell scripts, etc.)
