Large Number of Failed Login Attempts from IP 123.68.168.117

    Hi

    I am getting this e-mail in last days...

    Large Number of Failed Login Attempts from IP 123.68.168.117

    does this mean someone is trying to hack into my server? How can I prevent that? (they are different IPs)

    Thank you for your help!

    Hello,

    The mail denotes that someone is trying to login to your server. If you have installed CSF and have configured brute force detection you don't have to worry much. I would like to advise you to disable shell access for all users.

    I have brute force vers stricly set. I'm not sure what is CSF though?

    Hello,

    That will really help and yes CSF is a firewall which is very easy to install.

    Here are the steps to install it on a cPanel machine:

    Code:
    wget http://www.configserver.com/free/csf.tgz
    tar xzf csf.tgz
    cd csf
    ./install.cpanel.sh
    You can then manage it in WHM > Plugins > ConfigServer Security & Firewall area. The online discussion of it is at the following location:
