    Hello,

We are interested in the cPanel/WHM system. Our current server configuration is:

    Server 1: DNS
    Server 2: DNS
    Server 3: WEB/FTP
    Server 4: mySQL
    Server 5: Mail/Webmail

How many and what kind of licenses will we need? We want cPanel to run from the Web/FTP server, with the mySQL database located on the dedicated SQL server. In this configuration, will we also need full licenses for the dedicated mySQL and Mail servers? I assume the DNS-only licenses are appropriate for both DNS servers.

    Thanks.

For the DNS servers, you can use our free DNS-only product.

The MySQL server will not be running any cPanel/WHM software on it so no additional licensing is needed for that server.

However, currently cPanel/WHM does not support mail clustering. This is something we're hoping to do in version 12 (note, we're still in the process of releasing 11). At this time, Web, FTP, Mail and Webmail services need to reside on the same server as cPanel/WHM. This server will need a cPanel/WHM license for the cPanel/WHM software to function.

If you want to speak more in-depth about this in private, email us at sales@cpanel.net and feel welcome to reference this thread.
