i tried to upgrade my kernel using up2date, but it didnt work very well . . so i have to reboot using linux.bak . . thats okay, exept my server is about an hour away and when it goes down someone has to choose linux.bak or it will try to load the new broken kernel instead . .

so i edited lilo.conf so only linux.bak should be availible, so i figure when it reboots since linux.bak is the only choice it will go to that, am I wrong? I'm just a newbie :/

    Thanks!

did you run /sbin/lilo after updating lilo.conf ?

either that could be the problem, or your machine would be using grub. see grub conf.

    yea.

only what is labelled default will be booted. So you need to set that to the new kernel.
